Founded
Fermata was founded with a single conviction: computer vision could transform the way commercial growers monitor and protect their crops. From day one, the mission was to make greenhouse scouting smarter, faster, and more consistent.
-
Croptimus market-ready
After years of intensive R&D, model training, and field testing, Croptimus was ready for commercial deployment. Growers could now receive daily AI-generated reports on crop health across their entire greenhouse.
-
FoodTech Congress – AgriTech Startup of the Year
Recognised at the FoodTech Congress in Warsaw as the AgriTech Startup of the Year, validating Fermata's technology in front of Europe's leading food and agriculture innovation community.
-
Microsoft AI for Good & EIT Digital Challenge
One of just 14 companies globally selected for Microsoft's AI for Good programme. In the same year, Fermata won the Grand Prize at the EIT Digital Challenge among hundreds of European startups.
-
Bayer pilot expanded
A successful pilot with Bayer Crop Science in 2023 led to a full expansion across additional sites in 2024, spanning pest resistance assessment, ToBRFV detection, and seed production monitoring.
-
Detection studies
A rigorous 100-day tomato virus model study alongside a 3-month controlled pest and disease study – continuously pushing the boundaries of what AI can reliably detect in a greenhouse environment.
-
Fruit Logistica Innovation Award
Croptimus won the prestigious Fruit Logistica Innovation Award in the Technology category at Fruit Logistica Berlin 2025 – one of the world's most important trade shows for fresh produce.
-
Scale & partnerships
Expanded cucumber data collection programmes and progressed key partner integrations across Europe, deepening relationships with growers, agronomists, and research partners on four continents.
-
The journey continues
New hardware integrations, new crop models, new markets. Fermata is actively expanding its multi-modal sensing stack and platform to reach growers in every corner of the world.
